to the Chemistry Concentration
at GIST College.
Chemistry is a discipline that studies the compositions and properties of many materials around us and identifies new principles and methodologies for the synthesis and analysis of new materials. Chemistry provides the foundation for many fundamental and applied disciplines and plays a critical role in major national industries including materials, biotechnology, environmental and energy sciences.
In the Chemistry Concentration, we operate a curriculum that enhances chemical proficiency through theoretical and laboratory experiences. We offer both basic and advanced courses including physical, organic, analytical, inorganic, and biochemistry. In particular, we are working together with graduate school laboratories to provide students the opportunity to participate in undergraduate research projects. Through this we aim to enhance the qualities and capabilities of the students as future chemists.
The vision of chemistry education is to cultivate future leaders who not only achieve academic success, but also have the humanity to care for others. Students will be encouraged to widen their perspective and take interest in other fields. The professors of the Chemistry Concentration will collaborate in the effort to teach students the values of modesty, communication, and working together, ultimately guiding each student into becoming a scientist with great influence on future society. We aspire to a future in which graduates of the GIST Chemistry Concentration lead the path to greatness in their fields.
