School of Mechanical Engineering

WELCOME

Creation of innovative products
and manufacturing processes

Mechatronics is an emerging discipline which will enhance the quality of human life through the creation of innovative products and manufacturing processes with interdisciplinary approaches over various engineering disciplines. These include various fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, industrial engineering, controls, instrumentation and computer science. The tendency for future technology is not limited to one area, rather, it requires complex and multi-functional technology. This new discipline demands a strong scientific background and a broad knowledge of related engineering and experimental techniques. The department concent rates on the cultivation of system engineers who are equipped with a horizontal and vertical developmental capability that includes both software and hardware techniques.

Our graduate program will guide and educate students with different backgrounds by providing a curriculum with several areas of concentration. The core courses are designed to ensure that the student will have sufficient background required for mechatronics and mathematics. The rest of the curriculum consists of advanced in-depth elective courses, from which the student makes choices based upon his or her educational goal and the associated areas of research.

The School is actively seeking funded research projects from industry and government agencies. We aim to educate our students who can take a leading role in technological innovations by identifying and developing essential technologies without sacrificing practicality. All students will be involved in various research projects and they are encouraged to participate in summer or winter internships with the related industry.
