System Health and Reliability (SHR) Laboratory, founded in November 2016, pursuits a global leader in the area of optimal design, reliability and sustainability of complex engineered systems. The engineered systems should be designed optimally, and maintained effectively. To achieve the goal, the SHR Lab currently focuses on two research topics: (1) Design under Uncertainty and (2) System Diagnostics and Prognostics.
The research topics can be best explored with solid and in-depth knowledge in engineering mechanics, finite elements analysis (FEM), design optimization, measurement and instrumentation, probability and statistics, signal processing, data analytics, machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL), etc. We put a strong emphasis on simulations as well as experiments.
Our ultimate goal is to secure the reliable and safe operation of the engineered systems, e.g., safety-related and mission-critical systems such as power/petrochemical plants, manufacturing facilities, railway vehicles, and passenger cars.
