Physical Chemistry
"Molecular level study
of the properties"

Physical chemistry is a molecular level study of the properties and chemical reactions of materials based on fundamental physics principles. It includes the development of new experimental techniques, their applications to the study of the structures, dynamics and chemical reaction of molecular systems. It plays a central role in many interdisciplinary studies.

The Physical Chemistry Division is pursuing various advanced physical chemistry researches, such as ultrafast spectroscopy, chemical imaging based on nonlinear spectroscopy, spectroscopic imaging of nano- and bio-systems, to name a few. These projects are not only limited to the study of fundamental chemical phenomena, but also aim to solve various impending problems in the modern human society such as energy, environment and medical diagnosis and therapy in collaboration with other disciplines such as biology, medicine and material engineering.
